Project Pause focuses on the current Covid-19 crisis and how those with experience of displacement and migration have wisdom that needs to be centred and shared.
A taste of the common place experiences of displaced people are now being experienced by many as millions are locked down in order to slow the spread of the virus. Life as we know it is put on pause. This is an opportunity to build connections across communities and experiences, to develop increased empathy with displaced people and learn from those who have already coped with far more extreme unexpected disturbance, disruption and displacement. We hope that as a result many who are encountering these challenges for the first time, may cope better with experiences created as a result of Covid-19 and that displaced people will be better understood and accepted, ultimately leading to a more welcoming environment.
As we face the global Covid-19 crisis many of us once familiar with freedom of movement, connections with loved ones and active unrestricted lives are now faced with challenges that bear some resemblance to some of the experiences of the millions of people globally who are forcibly displaced. Of course, the extremity is vastly different, but the sense of restriction and uncertainty might be familiar.
Project Pause is a collaborative project which invites people with experience of displacement or migration to share these experiences in any format that they see fit.
